Bahçeli Calls for Final Disarmament of PKK, Warns Against Renewed Conflict

In a firm stance on Türkiye’s fight against terrorism, Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli declared there would be no turning back. Addressing his party at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), Bahçeli emphasized that the PKK must complete its disarmament process, and warned that no one should attempt to drag the country into renewed conflict.
“Türkiye has entered a new phase,” Bahçeli said, adding that the nation cannot afford to pay the same price it once did. “We must not allow terrorism to find new grounds for conflict,” he insisted.
Citing the PKK’s previous declarations of disbandment, Bahçeli urged for this process to be made permanent. “The bloody era must come to a definitive end,” he stated, while also noting that the MHP is closely monitoring the DEM Party’s approach to dialogue and resolution.
Calling attention to Türkiye’s evolving stance, Bahçeli urged political figures and institutions to avoid provocative rhetoric, stating, “No one can bear the responsibility for creating a new conflict environment.”
Condemns Islamophobic Attacks, Urges Legal Action
Shifting focus to global matters, Bahçeli strongly condemned a recent offensive cartoon against the Prophet Muhammad, calling for the formation of a legal action plan against Islamophobia. “I utterly condemn the vile attack published in a so-called satire magazine,” he said. “We must treat Islamophobia as a serious threat requiring structured legal response.”
Responds to Rumors About His Health
In response to persistent rumors about his health and speculation involving deepfakes and AI clones, Bahçeli delivered a pointed rebuke. “Those who say I’ve been replaced by a robot or claim I’ve died are nothing but charlatans,” he said. “They forget that only Allah decides when a life ends.”
Reaffirming his vitality, Bahçeli declared, “My health, strength, and determination are intact. We have much to accomplish, many goals to reach, more friends to gladden, and more foes to shake.”
Forest Fires: National Solidarity Urged
Bahçeli also touched on the recent devastating wildfires across Türkiye, labeling forests as both national treasures and spiritual blessings. “A single tree burning is an attack on our nation’s very existence,” he said. Pointing to recklessness, sabotage, and negligence as key causes, Bahçeli stressed that the frequency and intensity of summer wildfires demand extraordinary preventive measures.
Calling the cycle of fear—”Will our forests burn again this summer?”—a painful national reality, he voiced optimism that the charred forests could be revived through collective effort. He also thanked Ülkü Ocakları and all frontline responders for acting swiftly and coordinating effectively during the crises. “We stand in full solidarity with our people fighting fires,” he said. “We will heal these wounds, one by one.”
