Recent election polls continue to show the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) holding a clear lead over the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP). The AKP’s vote share, now seemingly stabilizing around 30 percent, has been widely covered in newspaper headlines.

Despite the government’s new initiative on the Kurdish issue and the controversial arrests of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and other CHP mayors, the AKP has failed to gain momentum. The latest polling data indicates the party’s support remains stuck around 30 percent.

Cumhuriyet newspaper published an average of six recent opinion polls, based on interviews with 15,187 people. The combined results are as follows:

  • CHP: 33.7%
  • AKP: 29.1%
  • DEM Party: 8.7%
  • MHP: 7.6%
  • İYİ Party: 5.3%
  • Victory Party (Zafer): 5.1%

Political scientist Berk Esen, speaking to Cumhuriyet, noted a significant shift in voter support toward the CHP, both from undecided voters and from those who previously backed other opposition parties. He emphasized that the political dynamics seen in the local elections could potentially carry over into the next general election.

Meanwhile, columnist Aytunç Erkin shared the results of the latest AREA survey in his Nefes column:

  • CHP: 35%
  • AKP: 30.6%
  • DEM Party: 8.6%
  • MHP: 7.6%
  • İYİ Party: 6.6%
  • Victory Party: 4.2%

  • Mansur Yavaş: 53.4%
  • Ekrem İmamoğlu: 47.8%
  • Recep Tayyip Erdoğan: 35.6%
  • Özgür Özel: 34%

BirGün newspaper also featured results from a Yöneylem survey prominently on its front page. Conducted between April 9–12 with 2,400 participants across 26 provinces, the survey showed that:

  • 52.4% believe the country is being poorly governed
  • Only 25% say it is being governed well

Party preferences in the Yöneylem poll were as follows:

  • CHP: 36.1%
  • AKP: 32%
