İmamoğlu was asked for prison sentence and political ban

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor (IBB) Ekrem İmamoğlu was asked for a prison sentence from two years and eight months to seven years and four months. The indictment also demanded a political ban on the Istanbul mayor.

In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau, chief prosecutor Akın Gürlek was included as the ‘victim’.

Imamoğlu had said to Gürlek at a panel last week, ‘Look, chief prosecutor, we will not be of any use to you, your mind is rotten; we will remove the mind that governs you from the mind of this nation to save even your children from these treatments, do not forget this.’

Immediately after the speech, an investigation was initiated against the IBB mayor on charges of ‘targeting people fighting against terrorism’, ‘insult’, and ‘threat’.
