Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has praised Türkiye and several other countries for their stance against Israel’s actions, attributing their position to deep historical and cultural roots. Meanwhile, Tehran is escalating its diplomatic response to the ongoing conflict, seeking compensation from regional states it accuses of aiding US-Israeli military operations.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has commended Türkiye and several major countries for what he described as their firm موقف against Israel’s military actions, highlighting the role of historical and cultural foundations in shaping their positions.
In a message shared on social media, Pezeshkian stated that countries such as Türkiye, Spain, China, Russia, Italy, and Egypt have demonstrated a principled stance against what he called Israel’s “war-mongering and crimes.”
“Rooted in deep historical and cultural traditions”
Pezeshkian argued that the موقف taken by these nations reflects long-standing civilizational values.
“The character of civilizations reveals itself at critical historical moments,” he said, adding that the response of these countries stems from “deep cultural and historical roots.”
His remarks come amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing conflict involving Israel and Iran, with global powers increasingly taking public positions.
Iran Seeks Compensation from Regional States
In parallel with its diplomatic messaging, Iran has intensified its legal and political response. Tehran is seeking compensation from several Middle Eastern countries it accuses of facilitating US and Israeli military operations.
Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Saeed Iravani, has formally requested reparations from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Jordan.
According to Iranian officials, these countries allegedly allowed their territories and airspace to be used in attacks against Iran.
Letter to the United Nations
In a letter addressed to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the UN Security Council, Iravani cited intelligence assessments by Iran’s armed forces as evidence of regional involvement.
The letter claims that certain الدول not only provided logistical support but also played a direct role in what Iran describes as unlawful attacks on civilian targets.
Tehran argues that such actions constitute violations of international obligations and has called for full compensation for both material and moral damages.
Estimated War Damages: $270 Billion
Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani stated that preliminary estimates place the cost of damages from US-Israeli attacks at approximately $270 billion.
The figure includes destruction of civilian infrastructure such as homes, businesses, and factories, as well as casualties from specific incidents, including an attack on a school in Minab that reportedly killed several students.
Mohajerani noted that a more precise assessment will be released following further evaluation by relevant authorities.
Compensation Demands as Part of Negotiations
Iran has made compensation a key component of its diplomatic strategy. Officials confirmed that demands for reparations were included among the شروط presented during ceasefire-related discussions with the United States.
The issue has also been raised by President Pezeshkian in various international forums, signaling Tehran’s intent to pursue the matter through both diplomatic and legal channels.
Rising Regional and Global Stakes
The developments highlight the increasingly complex geopolitical landscape in the Middle East, where military actions are closely intertwined with diplomatic maneuvering.
Türkiye’s position, in particular, has drawn attention from Tehran, reflecting Ankara’s growing role in regional diplomacy and its efforts to balance relations across multiple fronts.
At the same time, Iran’s push for compensation and its accusations against regional actors risk further escalating tensions, potentially complicating already fragile ceasefire efforts.
