Breakdown of the Agricultural Support Packages
The newly announced support program spans several key areas of agricultural production and rural development. Each category is designed to boost targeted subsectors, reinforce long-term sustainability, and provide immediate financial relief to producers facing rising costs.
According to the ministry’s announcement, the distribution of payments is as follows:
• Animal Genetic Resources Support:
A total of ₺557,628,000 is allocated to protect and develop local livestock breeds. This funding supports breeders working with native and hybrid species, contributing to biodiversity, genetic resilience, and more sustainable livestock production.
• Rural Development Investments Support:
Farmers and rural entrepreneurs will receive ₺281,868,000 to modernize infrastructure, strengthen value-added production, and enhance rural employment. These investments help expand processing capacity, storage technologies, and rural industry competitiveness.
• Agricultural Extension and Advisory Support:
A total of ₺104,223,000 will go to extension services and agricultural consultants who play a central role in transferring modern practices to farmers. This support ensures producers have access to scientific guidance, technology, and better farm management tools.
• Certified Seed Usage Support:
To improve crop quality and yield, ₺77,446,537 is allocated to encourage the use of certified seeds. This program strengthens traceability, boosts harvest efficiency, and helps raise overall sector productivity.
• Mohair (Tiftik) Production Support:
Producers in the mohair sector will receive ₺62,046,629, reinforcing a niche but historically significant segment of Turkey’s agricultural economy. The support aims to maintain breed quality, expand output, and sustain small producers.
• Small-Scale Fisheries and Mucilage Support:
A total of ₺31,250,050 will be provided under the program supporting small-scale fisheries, including initiatives to mitigate mucilage. This package helps fishermen recover, adapt, and maintain operations in coastal regions affected by environmental stress.
• Certified Seed Production Support:
An additional ₺23,395,784 is set aside for certified seed producers, supporting domestic seed development as part of Turkey’s strategy to reduce external dependency and strengthen agricultural sovereignty.
Strengthening Agricultural Output and Rural Stability
This latest support package demonstrates Turkey’s ongoing focus on enhancing production capacity, modernizing rural infrastructure, and ensuring that farmers maintain financial resilience in a challenging economic environment. By targeting livestock genetics, certified seeds, rural investment, advisory services, and fisheries, the ministry is reinforcing critical components of the food production ecosystem.
Beyond immediate financial relief, these programs aim to accelerate the sector’s shift toward higher-efficiency, knowledge-based, and environmentally conscious production models. With continued investment, the government expects stronger yields, improved supply chain stability, and broader opportunities for rural communities.
