HÜDA PAR Mersin Member of Parliament Faruk Dinç said Türkiye continues to face “Kemalist ideological impositions” across public life, arguing that these pressures restrict fundamental freedoms.

Speaking at a press conference in the Grand National Assembly, Dinç said the influence of the official ideology remains visible in multiple sectors, from education and politics to the media and the Directorate of Religious Affairs.

“For many years, Kemalist impositions have continued to shape nearly every area of social and political life in Türkiye,” Dinç said. He added that these dynamics lead to legal inconsistencies and “unjust practices” in both public and private institutions.

Dinç also claimed that Kemalism is now voluntarily embraced by a wide political spectrum, including groups who historically resisted it. He argued that official ceremonies and daily rituals contribute to “sanctifying certain individuals and the official ideology,” while dissenting views face investigations and detentions.

Delays in Housing Projects Draw Criticism

Dinç strongly criticized the Mass Housing Administration’s (TOKİ) “First Home, Land” initiative, saying the government has failed to deliver on basic commitments.

Three years after the project was launched, he said, land allocations in many provinces remain incomplete.

“Citizens who were reportedly entitled to plots under this project have not even been able to apply for the new 500,000 housing project,” Dinç noted. He argued that the stalled process has effectively blocked eligible families from accessing other affordable housing opportunities.

With property and rental prices rising rapidly, Dinç urged authorities to offer transparency and provide a concrete timetable.

“The public expects clear information. This process must be finalized as soon as possible,” he said.

Call for Recognition of Domestic Labor

On family and social policy, Dinç highlighted the importance of acknowledging the labor of women who choose to raise children at home.

“If population growth is a national objective, the efforts of women who remain at home to raise their children must never be ignored,” he said.

He called for economic support mechanisms and social recognition for domestic labor, describing childcare and household responsibilities as “round-the-clock commitments” that deserve policy backing.

‘Freedom of Thought and Belief Must Be Protected’

Dinç concluded by calling for an end to what he described as forced ideological practices and pressure on dissenting views.

“The freedom of thought and belief of every citizen must be protected,” he said. “Unjust practices stemming from forced ideological impositions must come to an end.”
