Hamas Endorses Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan
TRUMP
In a major diplomatic breakthrough, Hamas has officially endorsed U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, confirming that it has agreed to the proposal’s first phase following Israel’s earlier acceptance. The militant group announced its approval through a statement released on Telegram, describing the agreement as a roadmap to end the war, ensure Israel’s withdrawal, allow humanitarian aid, and facilitate a prisoner exchange.
The move marks the first time since the start of the conflict that both Israel and Hamas have simultaneously expressed commitment to a U.S.-brokered initiative, signaling what could become the most significant progress toward a ceasefire and political resolution in Gaza in years.
Hamas: The Deal Ends War and Secures Withdrawal
Hamas detailed the plan’s key provisions, emphasizing that it aims to “end the war in Gaza, withdraw occupation forces, open humanitarian corridors, and exchange prisoners.” The organization framed the agreement as a path toward both humanitarian relief and political recognition, asserting that these steps lay the foundation for long-term stability in the region.
In its statement, Hamas also underscored its continued commitment to Palestinian national rights, including the right to self-determination and independence.
Thanks to Mediators: Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt Praised
The group expressed deep gratitude to Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt, acknowledging their “brotherly mediation efforts” in achieving the deal. “We greatly appreciate the efforts of our mediator brothers in Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey,” the statement read, adding that Hamas also values President Trump’s role in advancing a plan designed to end the war and secure the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
This public acknowledgment of Trump’s involvement represents a notable diplomatic shift, as Hamas had previously rejected any U.S.-sponsored initiatives outright.
Call for International Pressure on Israel
While expressing approval, Hamas simultaneously urged the international community to hold Israel accountable for implementing the deal. In its statement, the group called on all global and regional actors — including the U.S., Arab, and Islamic states — to prevent Israel from delaying or avoiding its commitments under the agreement.
“We call upon President Trump, the guarantor states of the agreement, various Arab and Islamic nations, and all international parties: Pressure the Israeli occupation government to fully carry out the terms of the agreement and prevent it from evading or delaying its implementation,” Hamas said.
The First Step Toward Lasting Peace?
Observers see Hamas’s endorsement as a turning point that could pave the way for a sustained ceasefire and the start of post-war reconstruction efforts in Gaza. However, analysts caution that implementation remains the key challenge, given Israel’s domestic political divisions and the lack of a formal verification mechanism to ensure compliance from both sides.
Diplomatic sources say the coming days will test whether this agreement — unprecedented in its simultaneous acceptance by both parties — can survive the political and military realities on the ground.
If enacted fully, the plan could bring an end to months of bloodshed, reopening the door to a broader regional peace dialogue involving Arab states and international guarantors.
For now, Hamas’s message is clear: the war must end, the siege must lift, and the world must ensure that Israel follows through on its commitments.
