Getir Araç Sold to TikTak in $5.5M Deal, Mubadala Exits Turkey
Getir
A major shake-up has hit Turkey’s car rental and mobility sector as Getir Araç, a vehicle-sharing platform under the Getir group, has been sold entirely to rival TikTak. The deal marks the complete withdrawal of Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund Mubadala from Getir’s Turkey operations.
Deal Details: Anadolu Group Sells 25% Stake for $5.5 Million
According to a disclosure filed with the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), Anadolu Group, which owned 25% of Getir Araç through its subsidiary Çelik Motor Ticaret A.Ş., sold its shares to TikTak Yeni Nesil Ulaşım Çözümleri ve Araç Kiralama A.Ş. for $5.51 million.
The filing stated:
“A binding share transfer agreement covering 100% of Getir Araç’s shares was signed and completed on October 3, 2025. The share transfer price for Çelik Motor’s 25% stake was determined as $5,510,000, to be collected under the agreed payment schedule.”
The remaining 75% stake, held by Mubadala Investment Company, was also transferred in the same deal — marking the fund’s final exit from the Turkish market.
Mubadala’s Full Exit from Getir
Founded in 2015 by Nazım Salur, Getir became one of Turkey’s most recognizable tech startups during the pandemic, expanding rapidly into international markets with investments from Mubadala and other global funds. However, following financial losses and restructuring efforts, Mubadala assumed greater control of the company.
Now, in a surprising strategic shift, Mubadala has sold all its Turkey-based holdings, effectively ending its partnership with Getir. The move follows a turbulent year for the company, which scaled back operations in several countries and faced public disputes between Salur and the Emirati fund over management control.
TikTak Strengthens Its Market Position
With the acquisition of Getir Araç, TikTak — another major player in Turkey’s urban car-sharing ecosystem — has significantly strengthened its market position. Founded as a next-generation mobility solution, TikTak is now poised to consolidate its dominance in the short-term vehicle rental and digital transport sectors.
The purchase allows TikTak to absorb Getir Araç’s technological infrastructure, user base, and fleet network, expanding its presence across metropolitan hubs like Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir.
A Changing Mobility Landscape
Getir Araç was established in 2022 to compete in Turkey’s rapidly growing car-sharing market. However, economic volatility, rising operational costs, and global investor pullbacks in the post-pandemic era put pressure on its sustainability.
Industry observers see the TikTak-Getir Araç deal as part of a broader consolidation trend in Turkey’s mobility and tech sectors, where domestic players are regaining control from foreign investors amid shifting economic and regulatory conditions.
With Mubadala’s exit and Anadolu Group’s divestment, TikTak’s acquisition effectively marks the end of Getir’s automotive ventures — a sector once seen as a key pillar in the company’s diversification strategy.
