Hotel Occupancy Rates in Türkiye Drop in June Despite Longer Stays
Tourism in Turkey
Türkiye’s hospitality sector saw a decline in hotel occupancy rates this June compared to the same month last year, according to data from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Figures reveal that the occupancy rate in hotels fell from 61.95% in June 2023 to 57.95% in June 2024, marking a notable slowdown in both business hotels and simple documented accommodation facilities.
In terms of visitor composition, foreign tourists accounted for 39.76% of all guests, while domestic travelers made up 18.07%. The month recorded a total of 25.27 million overnight stays, slightly up from 24.59 million a year earlier. Of these, 17.37 million nights were booked by international visitors and 7.89 million by local tourists.
The total number of visitors reached 8.69 million, consisting of 4.77 million foreigners and 3.93 million domestic travelers.
Interestingly, the average length of stay increased from 2.85 days in June 2023 to 2.91 days this year, suggesting that while fewer rooms were filled, guests tended to stay longer.
