LGS Scandal: Minister Admits İmam Hatip Teachers Wrote Exam Questions

Yusuf Tekin

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin addressed recent controversies surrounding the LGS (High School Entrance Exam), firmly rejecting claims that questions were prepared by unauthorized individuals. Tekin clarified that the exam questions were crafted by teachers working within public schools, including İmam Hatip institutions.

“Claims suggesting that people outside the ministry prepared the questions are completely false,” said the minister.
“The questions were prepared by our teachers working in our İmam Hatip and other schools. If needed, university faculty members may be consulted to verify the scientific validity of the questions.”

Investigation Launched Against 29 People

Minister Tekin also announced that an investigation has been initiated against 29 individuals, some of whom hold public positions. All have been suspended from duty to ensure the transparency and integrity of the process.

The move comes amid growing scrutiny from educators and parents questioning the transparency of the LGS process, especially after allegations that non-ministerial actors may have influenced exam content. Tekin’s remarks aim to reinforce confidence in the state’s centralized examination procedures.

Strengthening Turkey–Sri Lanka Ties

In a separate engagement, Minister Tekin inaugurated the Third Session of the Turkey–Sri Lanka Economic and Technical Cooperation Joint Committee. In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), he emphasized Turkey’s intention to deepen bilateral ties across multiple sectors.

“Our cooperation will further strengthen in areas including education, trade, economy, industry, transportation, energy, agriculture, environment, defense, technical aid, health, tourism, and culture,” he wrote.
