The Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of Cassation has released the latest political party membership statistics in Turkey, published biannually in January and July. The newly published July 2025 update highlights major shifts in party membership dynamics, revealing surprising momentum changes among Türkiye’s political factions.

AKP Still Leads But Loses Over 250,000 Members

Despite remaining the largest political party in Turkey with 10,878,733 members, the Justice and Development Party (AKP) suffered a major blow, losing 256,573 members since the last update. This marks one of the most significant membership declines in the party’s history.

CHP Records Historic Surge in Membership

In sharp contrast, the Republican People’s Party (CHP) experienced a dramatic surge, gaining 371,488 new members—the highest increase among all parties. This brings the party’s total membership to 1,903,432, securing its position as Turkey’s second-largest party by membership.

MHP, Yeniden Refah, and Saadet Also Register Growth

The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) added nearly 2,000 new members, reaching 497,428 total, holding third place on the membership scale.

Meanwhile, Yeniden Refah Partisi (New Welfare Party) recorded one of the most notable growths among smaller parties, gaining 27,226 new members and reaching 650,073 members in total.

The Felicity Party (Saadet Partisi) also posted solid gains, with an increase of 13,913 new members, bringing its total to 246,842.
