Israel to Retaliate Against Iran Despite Trump-Brokered Ceasefire

Just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, tensions reignited as Israel accused Tehran of violating the truce with a missile attack. In response, Israeli military leaders ordered a counterstrike on Iranian targets.

According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), a missile was launched from Iran toward northern Israel, prompting immediate military consultations.

IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir declared:

“Iran has grossly violated the ceasefire. Our response will be forceful.”

Shortly after, Defense Minister Yisrael Katz announced he had authorized military strikes on Iranian targets in full coordination with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reinforcing Israel’s stance that any breach of the ceasefire would be met with “severe retaliation.”

“We maintain a zero-tolerance policy on ceasefire violations. Our military has full authorization to act,” Katz stated.

Iranian Denial

However, Iranian state media denied any missile launch, labeling the Israeli claims as false.

“Reports of missiles fired toward occupied territories after the ceasefire are entirely untrue,” Iranian television stated.

The ceasefire, brokered by the U.S., had been publicly accepted by Israel just hours earlier, with Trump hailing it as a diplomatic breakthrough. The alleged Iranian attack occurred approximately 3.5 hours after the truce was announced.

Political Fallout in Israel

The incident sparked a wave of strong reactions across the Israeli political spectrum:

  • Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, known for his hardline views, posted on social media:

    “Tehran will tremble.”

  • Opposition leader Avigdor Liberman also called for a swift response:

“A missile was fired just hours after the U.S. announced peace. This cannot be ignored.”

As of now, Tehran has not issued an official response beyond denying the claims.
