Retail sales volume in Türkiye recorded a strong surge in April 2025, posting an 11.5% year-on-year increase, according to official figures released Monday by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat). The retail sector emerged as the strongest-performing subsector, helping drive an overall 9.6% annual rise in total trade volume.

Retail, Auto, and Wholesale Sales All Post Gains

  • Wholesale trade sales rose 8% annually

  • Trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles jumped 13.8%

On a monthly basis, retail sales grew by 2.8% in April, but trade sales and wholesale sales declined by 3.1% and 6.1%, respectively.

Turnover Index Rises Sharply: Services and Construction Lead

In a separate data release, TurkStat announced that Türkiye’s total turnover index soared 32.7% year-over-year in April—driven by double-digit growth across major sectors.

Annual turnover gains by sector:

  • Services: +42.1%

  • Construction: +41%

  • Trade: +34.6%

  • Industry: +22.7%

The highest increase was recorded in administrative and support service activities, while manufacturing posted the lowest year-over-year turnover growth.

Monthly Turnover Performance: Mixed Signals

  • Services: +7%

  • Construction: +0.4%

  • Trade: +0.3%

  • Industry: –1.6%
